CHICAGO (WLS) -- A correctional officer is charged with sexually abusing four inmates at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, court documents showed.
MCC-Chicago is a federal prison facility in downtown Chicago.
Correctional officer Brittany Hall was assigned to a unit where female inmates were held, according to the court documents. Hall is accused of making sexual contact with the inmates.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons released the following statement:
"Due to the ongoing litigation, we cannot comment on this case specifically. However, we can say that the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) strongly condemns all forms of sexually abusive behavior and takes seriously our duty to protect the individuals entrusted in our custody as well as to maintain the safety of correctional employees and the community.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse of any kind and every person has the right to be safe from sexual abuse.
The vast majority of our employees are hardworking, ethical, diligent corrections professionals, who act with integrity daily and want thoseengaging in misconduct or who violate the public trust to be held accountable.
We believe that holding employees accountable, to the fullest extent of the law, will serve as a deterrent against future misconduct by employees, and we will continue to work diligently with law enforcement partners to prosecute violations of federal law."
